About the role
La Posada at Park Centre, Inc. is currently seeking a Full-Time, evening-shift Medication Technician. This role involves administering medications and treatments as prescribed by residents' physicians, performing caregiver duties, and providing training to new staff.
Responsibilities
- Administers and/or assists with the self-administration of routine and non-routine medications in accordance to physician orders.
- Performs delegated tasks as directed by the nurse.
- Completes simple treatments and reports resident vital signs as directed.
- Maintains accurate records of medications and treatments administered or omitted on each resident’s medication administration record.
- Reports and records changes in resident conditions, incidents and accidents to the nurse.
- Removes out-dated or discontinued medications for return to the pharmacy.
- Communicates with the pharmacy and nurse to ensure medications are received in a timely manner.
- Keeps the medication room clean and orderly.
- Communicates directly with residents, visitors, and staff in a professional and courteous manner.
- Observes residents' physical and mental conditions and reports changes to the LPN Supervisor.
- Affords direct resident care, promoting dignity, independence, and choice.
- Assists with or performs resident ADL's, taking vital signs and weights, and accurately documenting care services provided and observations on communication logs and incident reports.
- Greet residents, visitors, and staff courteously, respecting dignity, confidentiality standards, and promoting individual rights.
- Supports community fire safety and infection control practices, promptly reporting any unsafe conditions or equipment to a supervisor.
- Performs first aid and initiates emergency response procedures as required.
- Attends and participates in training, in-services, and staff meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current CPR and First Aid cards.
- Fingerprint clearance card.
- Current TB test.
- Certification as a Caregiver at the Personal, Supervisory, and Directed level.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
