Responsibilities

  • Provides services to tenants as assigned and as indicated on Resident Service Plans which may include grooming and dressing guidance, assistance with bathing.
  • Reports any significant tenant changes to the nurse.
  • Makes sure to monitor for changes in tenant needs, preferences, and/or health status, and documents any changes according to established procedures.
  • Reviews the Staff 24-Hour Communication log and corresponding Tenant Service Notes on a daily basis for information about changes in tenant service needs and/or health conditions.
  • Prepares and serves meals and snacks, followed by clean-up.
  • Maintains kitchen cleanliness.
  • Makes beds and changes linens.
  • Laundry service.
  • Houseskeeping, to include, dusting and vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms and common spaces.
  • Takes out garbage.
  • Maintains activity calendar and engages tenants in activities such as spiritual, educational, games, music, and physical activities.
  • Provides companionship.
  • Works effectively with minimal supervision and in a team setting.
  • Fulfills safety policies in performing care, ensuring resident safety.
  • Follows and upholds policies and procedures.
  • Attends and participates in facility meetings and in-service training programs as assigned.
  • Follows infection control guidelines.
  • Observes residents’ rights including, but not limited to, privacy, dignity, etc.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of experience in a caregiving role. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required. Previous experience working with individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease is preferred.

Skills

Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff members. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming. Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
