About the Role
The Medication Assistant (MA) provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under supervision.
Responsibilities
- Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, and personal hygiene
- Obtain and record vital signs
- Provide psycho-social support to residents
- Assist with transferring, repositioning, and guiding exercises
- Support dining activities and encourage resident participation
- Administer prescribed medications within scope of practice
- Document care outcomes and resident progress
- Communicate changes in resident condition to the charge nurse
- Collect non-invasive specimens
- Perform light housekeeping and laundry duties
- Encourage participation in wellness and recreational programs
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state regulations
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum age 18
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience preferred
- Must complete competency testing annually
- Must maintain required certifications (varies by state, including CNA and medication aide certifications)
- Ability to follow state regulations and document care accurately
