About the role
Careers With Purpose is seeking a Medication Assistant to join our not-for-profit organization that has provided over 100 years of housing and services to seniors in a Christian environment. The position is available at GSS ND Fa in Fargo, ND.
Responsibilities
- Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a charge nurse.
- Delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per the plan of care.
- Assists with basic health care needs including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psycho-social support and other personal care.
- Transfers, repositions, and walks residents using correct and appropriate transfer techniques and equipment, and provides range of motion and passive exercises.
- Prepares and serves meals and snacks, and provides water and supplements as appropriate.
- Administers prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse and within their scope of practice as defined by state regulations.
- Documents outcomes related to resident care, medication administration, behavior, activity, and dietary.
- Communicates changing conditions, medication follow-ups, and care-related concerns/responses to the charge nurse.
- Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens and gathers vital signs.
- Provides housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational.
- Encourages residents to participate in wellness and recreational programs and assists with organizing these events.
- Participates in departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed.
Requirements
- 3 months experience in Long Term Care required (6 months preferred).
- Minimum of 30 hours per month.
- One weekend shift per month.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
- Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year.
- Maintains all department specific required certifications.
- May need a valid driver's license and auto insurance.
Department Details
- Mileage reimbursement provided for required travel.
- Premium Pay Rates: $5/hour premium on all hours worked. $1.25/hour weekend shift differential $1.25/hour evening/night shift differential (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM).
