About the role
We are seeking a Medication Assistant to join our team at Highgate Senior Living. This position offers the chance to positively impact the lives of over 700 seniors and their families by providing exceptional care and support.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on and stand-by assistance to residents as needed
- Assist with activities of daily living
- Offer emotional, psychological, and soulful support
- Pass medications as required, with training provided if needed
- Communicate effectively with residents and their families
- Pivot and adapt to the changing needs of residents requiring physical and/or cognitive support
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- Ability to obtain CPR & First Aid Certification
- Current negative TB test
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and move continuously during work hours
- Ability to carry or transfer up to 25 lbs with assistance
- Ability to pass a criminal record/background check
- Efficient time management and good organizational skills
- Ability to work independently with little oversight
- Track record of top-notch organizational abilities and communication skills
- Willingness to attend and incorporate different types of training into work efforts
Qualifications
- Good customer service skills, ability to intuit, and problem solve
- Patience, level-headedness, and compassion
- Computer skills or ability to learn new software
- Detail orientation, demonstrated follow-up and documentation abilities
- Ability to focus on a task during periods of distraction
- Understanding of what it takes to provide care to residents needing physical and/or cognitive support
- Comfortable adapting quickly to the changing needs of an older adult
- Understanding or willingness to gain an understanding of the various forms of dementia and how residents with dementia can continue to live with purpose
Skills
- Relatable experience working in assisted living or memory care communities
- Experience in customer service roles
- Volunteer work involving vulnerable groups
- Kindness, patience, and compassion towards varying groups and individuals

Pay
The hourly wage range for this position is $17.00 to $23.00 per hour.
