Medicare Billing Representative
This position is fully onsite in Jacksonville, Florida, with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. It is a contract-to-hire role.
About the Role
The Patient Billing & Accounts Specialist supports patients through healthcare insurance transitions and assists with obtaining required documentation to maintain compliance with payer guidelines. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex insurance and billing processes while providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding insurance coverage, eligibility requirements, and healthcare billing processes.
- Guide patients through insurance transitions and assist with obtaining necessary documentation.
- Provide exceptional customer service through professional phone and written communication.
- Investigate, process, and resolve insurance claim denials and appeals.
- Follow established procedures and regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members to identify process improvements and increase operational efficiency.
- Work independently while contributing to overall department objectives.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Assist in monitoring department compliance with healthcare payer policies and applicable federal and state regulations.
- Apply knowledge of insurance programs, plan types, and eligibility requirements.
- Analyze explanations of benefits (EOBs) and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Support additional billing department activities as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One to two years of experience in healthcare billing, medical accounts receivable, insurance verification, or a related healthcare administrative role preferred.
- Familiarity with medical billing procedures and healthcare insurance processes preferred.
