Medical Transportation Dispatcher

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with field operations and clinical departments to optimize work flows and patient experience.
• Triage and prioritize requests based on medical necessity and time lines.
• Schedules transports, assigns appropriate transport resources (NEMT, Secured Van, BLS, ALS, Specialty Care).
• Maintains continuous communication with field crews and healthcare teams.
• Models effective problem solving and conflict resolution practices.
• Verifies patient readiness and special equipment for transport to minimize delays.
• Communicates special handling or infection control requirements with drivers.
• Completes administrative assignments for regulatory and billing compliance.
• Verifies trip eligibility, authorizations, and payer requirements when applicable.
• Communicates changes or delays with field crews and customers.
• Optimizes routes and schedules to ensure efficiency and on-time performance.
• Maintains oversight of active trips and adjusts assignments as needed.
• Handles stress well and gets along with others within the workplace and with customers.
• Ensures compliance with safety, regulatory, and organizational standards.
• Supports and reinforces a culture of safety, excellence, and just culture principles among the team.
• Proficient in dispatching and scheduling software.
• Works effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• High School Graduate
• 1 or more years Experience in dispatching
• 1 or more years Customer service

Skills

• Fluent English
• Basic understanding of EMS system design
• Common medical terminology

Schedule

3 - 12 hour shifts. 7:45am-8:15pm, including rotational Saturdays. Currently - no Sundays!
