Medical Technologist - Part time Nights

Description

Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, a member of Trinity Health, is seeking a part-time Med Tech to join their team. The schedule is 24 hours per week, evening shift, every other weekend.

Responsibilities

• Conducts diagnostic laboratory tests to detect, analyze, and treat various diseases and medical conditions.
• Uses microscopes, chemicals, precision tools, analyzers, and computer equipment to perform tests providing detailed information about conditions.
• Performs standard laboratory procedures consistently, ensuring high-quality patient care.
• Works independently in assigned areas such as Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, and Microbiology.
• Operates and troubleshoots Meditech lab systems for specimen processing, ordering, resulting, and inquiry functions.
• Adheres to downtime procedures and notifies management of system issues.
• Produces lab tests efficiently and organizes work to meet established turnaround times.
• Shares technical skills with students, technologists, and technicians, assists in evaluating new instruments, and participates in continuing education.
• Assists with inventory management, unpacking, and putting supplies away.
• Communicates effectively with co-workers, departments, and customers, answering the phone professionally and responding promptly to requests.
• Participates in all applicable inspections and contributes to the lab's operations.
• Supports the team by assisting coworkers, adjusting schedules as needed, and contributing to the timely processing and completion of work.

Qualifications

• Sufficient knowledge of QC, protocol, and procedures, bringing exceptions to management’s attention.
• Skilled in multitasking, prioritizing work, and adhering to STAT protocols.
• Able to work independently and prioritize samples and critical/STAT results.
• Knowledgeable of the Point of Care Management Program and its involvement in the laboratory.
• Adheres to patient identification and specimen labeling policies.
• Communicates effectively and shares technical skills with others.
• Flexible and willing to adjust schedules to meet department needs.
