About the role

This position is a pool, First shift position with 4-8 hour shifts M-F, no weekends or holidays. Start time varies between 0700-1500. The position will Chemistry/Urinalysis, Blood Gases and Specimen Processing. Other areas such as Hematology, Coagulation, or Blood Banking will be considered. Training, approximately 6 -8 weeks, will be scheduled on 1st shift and will be completed before joining operational coverage. Ideally training will be done full-time if possible.

Responsibilities

Medical Technologists, or Medical Laboratory Scientists, perform moderate to high complexity testing within the Clinical Laboratory. Prepares samples for examination, using automated equipment and specialized instrumentation. Performs numerous complicated tests simultaneously; accurately evaluates correlates and interprets test results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Medical Technologist (MT) certification issued by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification issued by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) needs to be obtained within 6 months, or
  • Medical Technologist (MT) certification issued by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) needs to be obtained within 6 months

Qualifications

Under approved circumstances, an extension may be granted for an additional 6 months.
