About the Role
Memorial Hermann League City Convenient Care Center seeks a Medical Technologist or MLT to join our team on Nights. This position is responsible for performing various laboratory tests and procedures as assigned.
Schedule
12-hour shifts; 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in biological science (Equivalency required for foreign education)
- One of the following certifications or eligibility:
- Medical Technologist (ASCP) or Medical Technologist (AMT)
- Certified MLS (ASCP or ASCP-International)
- Certified CLS (ASCP)
- Certified MLS (ASCP or ASCP-International) CM
- ASCP Certification Eligible, meeting one of these criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in biological science AND successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited MLS program within the last 5 years
- MLT(ASCP) certification and two years of full-time acceptable laboratory experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids in the U.S., Canada, or an accredited laboratory within the last four years
- CLA (ASCP) certification, a bachelor’s degree in a biological science, and four years of full-time acceptable experience in the specified laboratory areas within the last eight years
- Five years of full-time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in the specified areas within the last ten years
Responsibilities
- Performs and documents test results, quality control, maintenance procedures, and associated corrective actions according to policy and procedure.
- Manages and performs daily lab operations, including collections, sample processing, results reporting/distribution, personnel direction (as appropriate), and clerical duties to maintain efficient workflow.
- Interacts with hospital personnel, volunteers, physicians, and patients regarding specimens, orders, and results, ensuring sensitivity to customer needs.
- Complies with policies, procedures, and standards set by laboratory services, the hospital, and the system, including those from governmental and accrediting agencies such as TJC, FDA, CAP, AABB, CMS, HCFA, and CLIA.
- Performs duties to promote quality patient care, customer satisfaction, safety, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Ensures safe care for patients, staff, and visitors by adhering to Memorial Hermann policies and standards.
- Promotes professional growth and development through continuing education, skills competency, and mentorship of less experienced staff.
- Demonstrates commitment to compassionate and personalized care for every member of the community.
- Other duties as assigned.
