About the role

Major Responsibilities:

  • Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests as authorized within established protocols, selecting and performing additional procedures when indicated.
  • Maintains and adjusts workflow to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Evaluates test results for clinical significance, validity, and appropriateness.
  • Reports test results following established policies.
  • Calibrates, maintains, and repairs laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Monitors and implements corrective actions for instrument malfunctions.
  • Documents and reviews quality control and assurance measures.
  • Ensures proper specimen labeling and collection.
  • Directs, trains, and assists medical laboratory technicians, phlebotomists, and support staff.
  • Develops and implements education and training protocols.
  • Improves laboratory procedures, policies, and processes.
  • Ensures compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports critical care departments during high acuity events.

Requirements

Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications:

  • Medical Technologist (MT) certification issued by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification issued by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC).
  • Medical Technologist (MT) certification issued by the American Medical Technologists (AMT).

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field.

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including alternate site assignments.
