Responsibilities

  • Fulfilling laboratory procedures for specimen collection, handling, and processing.
  • Conducting and documenting quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance.
  • Notifying supervisors of potential issues affecting test performance or reporting.
  • Managing laboratory stock according to needs.
  • Performing tasks listed on checklists associated with the position.
  • Maintaining adherence to safety policies.
  • Providing excellent customer service.
  • Fostering a positive work environment.
  • Completing additional duties as assigned.
  • Requirements

    • At least 18 years old.
    • A high school diploma or equivalent.
    • Keyboarding experience.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • One year of clerical experience preferred.
    • One year of clinical experience preferred.
    • Completion of 60 semester hours from a regionally accredited college, including chemistry, biology, and medical laboratory techniques, or an Associate degree in a related field.
    • Completion of clinical rotations in microbiology, urinalysis, chemistry, and hematology.
    • OR
    • Completion of a fifty-week military Medical Laboratory Procedures course and meeting qualifications for the military occupational specialty of “Medical Laboratory Specialist.”
    • ASCP Registered Medical Technologist (M.T.) or Medical Laboratory Technician (M.L.T.) certification preferred.
    • Registry-eligible technologists encouraged to apply.

    Qualifications

    • Completion of a minimum of 60 semester hours from a regionally accredited college, including chemistry, biology, and medical laboratory techniques, or an Associate degree in a related field.

    Pay

    $31.00 - $34.50 per hour, depending on experience.
