Responsibilities
- Fulfilling laboratory procedures for specimen collection, handling, and processing.
- Conducting and documenting quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance.
- Notifying supervisors of potential issues affecting test performance or reporting.
- Managing laboratory stock according to needs.
- Performing tasks listed on checklists associated with the position.
- Maintaining adherence to safety policies.
- Providing excellent customer service.
- Fostering a positive work environment.
- Completing additional duties as assigned.
- At least 18 years old.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Keyboarding experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- One year of clerical experience preferred.
- One year of clinical experience preferred.
- Completion of 60 semester hours from a regionally accredited college, including chemistry, biology, and medical laboratory techniques, or an Associate degree in a related field.
- Completion of clinical rotations in microbiology, urinalysis, chemistry, and hematology.
- OR
- Completion of a fifty-week military Medical Laboratory Procedures course and meeting qualifications for the military occupational specialty of “Medical Laboratory Specialist.”
- ASCP Registered Medical Technologist (M.T.) or Medical Laboratory Technician (M.L.T.) certification preferred.
- Registry-eligible technologists encouraged to apply.
- Completion of a minimum of 60 semester hours from a regionally accredited college, including chemistry, biology, and medical laboratory techniques, or an Associate degree in a related field.
- Completion of clinical rotations in microbiology, urinalysis, chemistry, and hematology.
- OR
