Medical Technologist Lead
About the role
Lead Medical Technologist adhere to all procedures directed by manufacturers as well as regulations imposed by both HCA Houston Medical Center and CAP. Is responsible for monitoring, and maintaining equipment to ensure that all quality assurance deliverables. Provides department specific guidance, and training medical laboratory technicians, technologists and/or nursing staff. Assists in the investigation and resolution of departmental specific problems/complaints from physicians’ patients, and their families, nursing and other laboratory or hospital personnel.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine, complex or specialized bacteriological, hematological, chemical, immunological, serological and immunoassay procedures on body fluids.
- Communicate effectively with other care providers (physicians, nurses, business office, and medical records) to provide for continuity of patient care and to meet the needs of the customers we serve.
- Demonstrate accuracy for all testing performed.
- Perform related quality control and required proficiency testing according to policy and procedure.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in a Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science (MT/CLS) from an accredited institution.
- MT (ASCP) or equivalent required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory preferred.
