Medical Technologist Lab - PRN 1204
Lab Certification Required Regulatory Requirement: Including 6-12 months of clinical education acceptable through NAACLS to the CAHEA of American Medical Association. Must be able to perform all phases of job at a satisfactory level in 4 months or 130 days. Current MT Certification or eligible for certification by a nationally recognized agency such as ASCP, NCA, or equivalent. Generalist certification is required within 2 years of employment. Maintains CMP if applicable.
About the Role
The Medical Technologist uses the laboratory process to safely perform laboratory procedures. Working assignments are determined by the workload of laboratory tests to be done. Follows departmental procedures and policies that reflect the services provided by the laboratory. Operates and maintains laboratory instruments.
Responsibilities
- Function within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization.
- Address problems with instruments independently without relying on others to resolve them.
- Assist with orientation, preceptorship, and management of personnel assigned to the unit.
- Work and relate in a professional, non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors.
- Attend yearly mandatory education requirements; responsibility of the employee to arrange and attend sessions.
- Perform any duty within the scope of a medical technologist as requested by the laboratory manager or director.
Schedule
Assigned up to 40 hours a week, rotating between day and night shifts according to the needs of the unit and staff.
