Medical Technologist I - Transfusion

About the Role

Supports clinical activities by performing patient testing, product modification, blood product processing, and routine laboratory tests in a transfusion medicine setting.

Responsibilities

• Investigates equipment, test result, specimen, and workflow issues.
• Participates in team projects and may teach students, residents, and train new staff.
• Performs quality control, equipment maintenance, and routine/advanced laboratory tests.
• Prepares specimens, reagents, and reports results to healthcare providers, ensuring accuracy and timiness.
• Performs product modification tasks such as aliquoting, washing, irradiating, and transporting blood products.

Requirements

• Requires a Bachelor of Science degree and eligibility to sit for the MT exam within 12 months.
• Must obtain certification within one year of eligibility.
• No prior experience required.
