Medical Technologist I-PRN
About the role
A medical technologist supports high-quality laboratory testing in a clinical laboratory. They prepare specimens for testing, perform routine and specialized laboratory tests, conduct quality control, troubleshoot quality control errors and maintenance procedures, recognize and evaluate computer data problems, troubleshoot laboratory instruments, perform preventative maintenance, communicate technical information to medical and lay persons, assist with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures, participate in continuing education, recognize normal and abnormal values, and model Standards of Behavior in daily interactions and activities.
Responsibilities
- Prepares specimens for testing
- Performs routine laboratory tests

Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related medical or scientific discipline with 0-1 year experience
- Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC)
- If not certified, must be registry eligible and successfully obtain certification within the first year of employment

- Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, working outside in temperature extremes, working from elevated areas, working in confined/cramped spaces, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, squatting, performing pinching operations, performing gross motor activities with fingers and hands, performing firm grasping with fingers and hands, performing fine manipulation with fingers and hands, reaching overhead, performing repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, using both legs, using lower extremities for balance and coordination, reaching in all directions, lifting and carrying 50 lbs. unassisted, lifting/lowering objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted, lifting from 36" to overhead 25 lbs., exerting up to 50 lbs. of force, maintaining 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes, determining distance/relationship between objects; depth perception, having good peripheral vision capabilities, maintaining hearing acuity, with correction, performing gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements, dealing effectively with stressful situations, working rotating shifts, working overtime as required, working in a latex safe environment, maintaining tactile sensory functions, being qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required
