Medical Technologist Full Time Evening

Job Summary

Kindred Hospital Rancho is a 55-bed long-term acute care hospital offering specialized care for extended recovery periods. The position involves performing and reporting routine and special laboratory tests on clinical specimens to aid in the diagnosis and monitoring of patients.

Essential Functions

• Performs analyses in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, coagulation, blood bank and microbiology according to expected performance standards
• Performs venipuncture, finger stick, or heel stick on identified patients by physician's request in a timely, accurate and caring manner
• Keeps documented records current regarding maintenance and quality control
• Fulfills the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results
• Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens
• Identify and address problems affecting test performance or reporting of test results, and follow corrective action policies and procedures
• Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

• Comprehensive knowledge of safety, quality control, and specimen handling guidelines and procedures
• Skilled in using applicable laboratory equipment
• Quick and accurate work under strict deadlines
• Working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, laboratory medicine, disease processes, and laboratory procedures
• Confidentiality of patient and employee information
• Fluent English reading, writing, and speaking ability
• Good and regular attendance

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological science, or medical technology from an accredited institution
• Licenses/Certifications: Current license issued by the State in which the laboratory is located, if required; certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist preferred
• Experience: 1-2 years of acute care hospital lab experience in high complexity testing preferred

Pay Range

$37.02 - $54.00/Hour
