PeaceHealth Peace Harbor Medical Center in Florence, Oregon is seeking a Medical Technologist Certified or a Medical Lab Technician Certified for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Evening position. Florence is located on the Oregon Coast at the mouth of the Siuslaw River, offering a lifestyle inspired by the great outdoors with breathtaking beaches, rolling sand dunes, numerous lakes with hiking trails, a picturesque historic downtown, the 40‑mile‑long Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area to the south, tide pools and hiking trails at Cape Perpetua to the north, and steelhead fishing on the Siuslaw River to the east.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex laboratory procedures and tests in blood bank, chemistry, hematology, immunology, and microbiology using established protocols.
• Monitor, screen, and troubleshoot devices, tests, and procedures; recognize anomalies and make corrections to ensure quality.
• Evaluate specimens for testing, apply appropriate criteria, and uphold performance standards.
• Perform waived, moderate, and high complexity laboratory tests.
• Maintain equipment and tools; perform quality assurance testing, routine calibration, and ensure optimal performance.
• Assist Technical Specialist or Supervisor with evaluation of new methods and procedures (for Medical Technologist).
• Consult with clinicians, supervisors, and other caregivers on test results, requirements, and testing protocols.
• Give direction and guidance to phlebotomy and specimen management teams; assist with orientation of new caregivers and students; assess competencies.
• Maintain appropriate records for specimens, tests, and data.
• Utilize computer systems for reporting and documenting analysis.
• Participate in department in‑services and continuing education programs (lectures, workshops, video presentations).
• Participate in required competency assessment
