Responsibilities

• Perform high-complexity testing across all areas of the clinical laboratory, including blood bank, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and serology/immunology.
• Maintain laboratory records.
• Follow laboratory policies and procedures; maintain quality control and quality improvement practices in the laboratory.
• Evaluate and validate test methods, including correlation studies and performance verification.
• Identify and resolve discrepant results or out-of-range quality control values, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Verify specimen integrity and patient identification prior to testing.
• Communicate critical values promptly to physicians and nursing staff.
• Maintain accurate documentation for testing, quality control, and billing within the laboratory information system.
• Perform specialized testing procedures, including microbiology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, serology, and blood bank testing (e.g., antibody screening and crossmatching).
• Adhere to all safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with laboratory leadership, pathologists, and interdisciplinary teams to support patient care and quality improvement.
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment and ensure adequate supply levels.
• Participate in weekend, holiday, and on-call rotations as required.
• Demonstrate professionalism, adaptability, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support efficient laboratory operations.

Qualifications

• Medical Technologist I: Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) (ASCP)/ (AMT) certified or eligible within one year of hire.
• Medical Technologist II: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Microbiology, Medical Lab Science or related field or equivalent experience required and Medical Technologist (MT) (ASCP), (MLS) (ASCP) or AMT registered or eligible within one year of hire.

Skills

• Effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Operates laboratory equipment correctly and safely.
