About the role
Provides ancillary support for clinical laboratory activities by performing and interpreting moderate to high complexity tests in compliance with CLIA 88 standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform and interpret complex laboratory tests after specialized training.
- Act as a resource for test interpretation and review procedures for compliance.
- Prioritize STAT and routine samples, ensuring specimen accuracy and proper storage.
- Initiate corrective actions for specimen or testing issues and alert relevant personnel.
- Maintain equipment, perform quality control (QC), troubleshoot technical issues, and document test results accurately.
- Transcribe results into Laboratory Information System (LIS), notify of critical values, and ensure result accuracy.
- Participate in quality assurance, continuing education, and training activities.
- Support safety, infection control, confidentiality, and adherence to departmental policies.
- Collaborate with team members, assist in cross-training, and participate in committees.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in applied science, Medical Technology, or Clinical Laboratory Science with clinical internship.
- Certification from ASCP, NCA, or equivalent preferred.
- Entry-level position with knowledge of high complexity testing, regulatory standards, and manual/visual dexterity.
Pay
Range from $22.12 to $31.01 per hour, based on qualifications, experience, and certifications.
