Medical Technologist

About the role

Performs diagnostic testing on patient samples to assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring disease states. Reports to the Director of Laboratory Services.

Responsibilities

  • Follows standardized procedures and prepares patient samples for testing.
  • Collections and analyzes bodily fluids and substances for abnormalities, including blood samples for transfusions.
  • Operates laboratory equipment safely and effectively.
  • Analyzes test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits; reports and documents findings according to organizational standards.
  • Performs automated testing using computerized instruments and equipment.
  • Conducts Quality Assurance to ensure accuracy and reliability of equipment and results.
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree preferred

Licenses: Medical Technologist licensure through ASCP or AMT preferred (licensure must reflect education requirements)
