Job Summary
Kindred Hospital Rancho is a 55-bed long-term acute care hospital offering specialized care for an extended recovery period. The facility partners with physicians and provides 24/7 clinical care. It features an eight-bed ICU and three negative pressure rooms, conveniently located near downtown Rancho Cucamonga.
Essential Functions
- Performs analyses in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, coagulation, blood bank, and microbiology according to expected performance standards.
- Performs venipuncture, finger stick, or heel stick on identified patients by physician's request in a timely, accurate, and caring manner.
- Keeps documented records current regarding maintenance and quality control.
- Fulfills the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Maintains records demonstrating proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Identifies and addresses problems affecting test performance or reporting, and follows corrective action policies and procedures.
- Documents all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety, quality control, and specimen handling guidelines and procedures.
- Skilled in using laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, meters, microscopes, incubators, pipettes, autoclaves, and sterilizers.
- Quick and accurate work under strict deadlines.
- Working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, laboratory medicine, disease processes, and laboratory procedures.
- Confidentiality of patient and employee information.
- Fluent English reading, writing, and speaking skills.
- Good and regular attendance.
- No approximate percent of time required to travel.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
- Licenses/Certifications: Current license issued by the State in which the laboratory is located, if required; certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by a nationally recognized agency/board preferred.
- Experience: 1-2 years of acute care hospital lab experience in high complexity testing preferred.
Pay Range
$44.12-$55.95/hr.
