Medical Technologist
About the role
The Medical Technologist is responsible for accurately performing a variety of routine and complex laboratory tests and reporting results within the expected turnaround time to assist healthcare providers delivering the most optimal patient outcomes. Performs, as assigned, all required equipment maintenance, calibration and quality control testing per departmental procedures. Performs a variety of tasks including specimen transport, phlebotomy, specimen processing for in-house and send-out testing for reference laboratories, answering telephone calls, reviewing pending logs, etc. Must be available to cover other Outpatient Clinics as needed.
Responsibilities
- Accurately perform a variety of routine and complex laboratory tests

- Assist healthcare providers in delivering optimal patient outcomes
- Perform required equipment maintenance, calibration, and quality control testing
- Perform specimen transport, phlebotomy, specimen processing for in-house and send-out testing
- Answer telephone calls and review pending logs
- Cover other Outpatient Clinics as needed
Requirements
- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Lab Science, Biological Sciences or related field from an accredited college or university
- Associates Degree in Medical Lab Technology with HEW certification Req. Required Certification/Licensure: Certification required (ASCP or AMT) or eligible to take exam. Must successfully complete certification (ASCP or AMT) within 18 months of hire
