Medical Technical Assistant 1 (CMA)-OB/GYN (Knoxville)

Responsibilities

• Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary equipment and supplies and assists physicians and nurse practitioners with procedures.
• Stands in as chaperon when appropriate.
• Obtains vitals and brief health history, escorts patient to the exam room, enters quality data into electronic medical record, and administers intramuscular and subcutaneous injections per orders.
• Affords assistance with coding and billing.
• Affords assistance with sending lab orders.
• Performs telephone triage as needed following established protocols.
• Schedules referrals to specialists as needed.
• Performs duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
• EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of work experience in outpatient medicine. Must maintain CPR certification. (Experience with Obstetrical and Internal Medicine is preferred. Experience to speak Spanish preferred.)
• LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: CMA, CCMA, or equivalent.
• Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities: Knowledge of EMR systems. Excellent communication skills. Ability to effectively prioritize and manage time.

Work Schedule

This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings.
