Medical Surgical Technician (PRN) Emergency Services

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a professional image and exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers in accordance with Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
  • Assist with patient care to complete tasks, perform orders, and document interventions in accordance with scope of service under supervision of a licensed nurse, including:
    • Obtaining vital signs
    • Performing wound care
    • Managing intake/output
    • Collecting specimens
    • Additional activities with verified competency
  • Perform or assist with nutritional/hydration interventions (feeding, providing fluids, or snacks).
  • Support optimal daily operation of the department by:
    • Performing tasks associated with general unit organization and cleanliness
    • Maintaining department supplies
    • Handling clerical duties
    • Initiating and maintaining hygiene/cleanliness of patients, their environment, and the unit environment
  • Assist with transportation of patients and utilize appropriate health and safety equipment to protect both patients and staff.
  • Foster an environment that demonstrates caring, compassion, and respect for all patients, families, and visitors.
  • Contribute to the overall performance of the department and participate proactively in problem-solving initiatives.
  • Float to other departments as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Phlebotomy, CNA, or EMT certification or 1 year of clinical experience.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
