Medical Surgical Technician -full-time/days- Medical
About the Role
McLeod Health is seeking a Medical Surgical Technician for a full-time, day shift position. This role involves providing direct patient care, maintaining a safe and comfortable environment, and supporting the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Responsibilities
- Initiates and maintains the hygiene/cleanliness of patients and the patient's environment
- Understands and recognizes appropriate storage and safety of medications (such as large volume IV's, alcohol, saline, medications in prepackaged kits)
- Using Service Excellence Standards, conducts Hourly Rounds
- Promotes and fosters an environment of comfort and safety for patients and visitors
- Performs or assists with performing nutritional/hydration interventions (feeding, providing fluids, water or snacks)
- Collects and records patient related data through the performance of direct care tasks
- Identifies and communicates appropriate patient data to members of the interdisciplinary team
- Demonstrates continued professional growth through setting goals and participating in Evidence Based tasks
- Utilizes appropriate health and safety practices to protect both the patient and staff
- Performs general transportation and courier duties as directed
Qualifications
- Completion of a nursing assistant training course preferred (CNA Certification) OR one (1) or more years of experience in a clinical setting
- High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited school (preferred)
