About the role

A Medical Staff Coordinator at Raleigh General Hospital plays a crucial role in supporting the hospital’s Medical Staff Bylaws, Joint Commission (TJC), and CMS regulations. The coordinator ensures alignment with these standards and manages various processes including FPPE, OPPE, and peer review.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the operational lead for FPPE, OPPE, and peer review processes.
  • Coordinate and manage FPPE processes for new providers, new privileges, and performance triggers, including the development of FPPE plans and tracking their completion.
  • Maintain OPPE dashboards, performance metrics, and review cycles; distribute reports to department chairs and monitor trends for potential focused review.
  • Triage peer review referral cases, prepare de-identified case materials, facilitate objective review processes, and track action plans through completion using RL Solutions.
  • Cook up Medical Staff committees, including preparing reports, documenting actions, and following up on recommendations to MEC and Credentialing.
  • Validate and maintain confidential data sources and databases; prepare accurate reports for MEC, Quality Committees, and hospital leadership.
  • Provide education and guidance to department chairs, reviewers, and providers on FPPE/OPPE processes and MD STAT or other software utilized for PEER/OPPE/FPPE.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality and compliance with West Virginia peer review protections while promoting fairness, objectivity, and due process.
  • Identify process gaps, recommend workflow improvements, and support continuous improvement initiatives within provider performance evaluation programs.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • An associate's degree is preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of healthcare experience, preferably in Medical Staff, Quality, Risk, or regulatory support.
  • Working knowledge of Joint Commission (TJC) and CMS regulations related to provider performance evaluation and peer review.
  • Strong data literacy, organizational skills, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism, with the ability to collaborate effectively in high-pressure environments.
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence, discretion, and sound judgment when handling confidential and sensitive matters.

Qualifications
