Medical Social Worker

About the role

The Medical Social Worker (MSW) at Cabell Huntington Hospital works with the Clinical Resource Management Department. They exercise independent judgment and professional discretion in case management for a selected group of patients. The MSW collaborates with physicians and residents, advocating for patients and families during their acute care episodes. They monitor patients' ongoing stays to ensure appropriate resource utilization and facilitate safe, timely discharges. The MSW uses collaborative problem-solving skills to address patient needs and utilizes various resources including family, community, state, and federal agencies, as well as patient resources, to support their recovery.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field.
• Current license to practice Social Work in West Virginia.
• Experience in acute care settings preferred.
