About the role

The Medical Simulation Operator will provide technical expertise and support for the 133rd Airlift Wing, Minnesota National Guard, Critical Care Air Transport Team Sustainment Training Center (CCATT-STC). Responsibilities include operating a high-fidelity patient simulator system and assisting in developing metrics to validate a simulation-based team-training program. The role involves using advanced learning technologies and methodologies to enhance medical education and training for healthcare teams, ultimately improving patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and support on operating a high-fidelity patient simulator system.
• Assist with the use of advanced learning technologies and methodologies to improve medical education and training for healthcare teams.
• Utilize a state-of-the-art Learning Management System (LMS) for equipment setup, troubleshooting, operational logistics, and evaluating learner performance during training and simulation events.
• Provide input on team performance during pre- and post-simulated conditions to establish correlation between pre- and post-performance.
• Prepare training environments, operate simulation equipment/assets, and recover equipment and environment for scheduled training and upon request by CCATT-STC Staff.
• Operate simulation equipment, task trainers, computerized high-fidelity simulators, and virtual reality procedural trainers, adjusting scenarios based on participant actions or inactions.
• Assist with train-the-trainer activities and basic equipment troubleshooting to train additional cadre members.

Requirements

• Excellent interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with word processing software and SharePoint applications.
• Certified medical simulation operator, capable of manipulating physiological data and interpreting participants' responses to simulated scenarios.
• Maintain Basic Life Support-Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) certification.
• At least one year of clinical experience in a military or civilian setting.
• At least one year of experience with programming human patient simulators using Laerdal and Nasco simulator operating systems.
• Prior experience in course development and education methodology.
• Knowledge of military trauma clinical skills, procedures, and processes, including AFMS Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs).
• Knowledge and understanding of applicable Air Force and professional standards, as well as military and civilian guidelines, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move human patient simulation equipment to and from training areas.
• Ability to work in low-light, high-volume environments, and differing weather conditions simulating actual aeromedical evacuation and CCATT missions.

Qualifications (Highly Desired)

• Paramedic-equivalent medical knowledge (RN level preferred) to manipulate physiological data and interpret participants' responses to simulated scenarios.
• One year of military medical/military deployment experience.
• Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), audio/visual solutions, moulage creation & application, hyper-realistic simulators, and task-trainers.

Schedule

Part-time position, 32-40 hours per month, not to exceed 480 hours per year. Working hours are between 0730 and 1630, Monday through Friday, except Federal holidays. Schedule may be flexible but will not exceed 40 hours per week.
