Medical Scribe

Responsibilities

• Accompanies physician into the patient examination room, in order to transcribe a history and physical examination as given by the patient and physician, including proper charting of the examination and recommendations for treatment.
• Under direction of the physician, transcribes patient orders, including laboratory tests, and imaging results, e.g., urinalysis, renal ultrasounds, noting provider interpretation and order details.
• Documents any procedures performed by the physician, in the electronic medical record.
• Transcribes any consultations or discussions with family and/or the patient’s private physician or referring physician.
• Completes the patient’s electronic record by transcribing results of any lab’s, x-rays, or other evaluations. Lists all proper diagnosis as well as any follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as dictated by the physician.
• Documents any physician orders relate to patient care and ensures follow-through of pending items.
• Aids physician with any other duties related to patient care as instructed.
• Manages physician template to ensure good patient flow.
• Assists prostate cancer study data entry.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited educational institution or a minimum of 0- 2 years’ experience being a Medical Assistant/ Scribe.
• Knowledge of computer/telephony support, preferably in a health care environment.
• Strong customer service background, preferably in health care environment.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Competence with computer processing functions and other standard office equipment.
• Able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Able to calmly and professionally resolve customer issues with diplomacy and tact.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Bilingual Spanish highly preferred.

Pay and Benefits

Anticipated hourly range: $23.00 per hour - $25.20 per hour
