About the role
You’ll work side-by-side with providers, documenting patient encounters in real time and helping keep patient care moving efficiently. Every note you complete helps providers focus more on their patients—allowing you to make a meaningful impact behind the scenes while gaining valuable healthcare experience.
Responsibilities
- Document patient visits in real time by accurately capturing medical histories, physical exam findings, procedures, diagnoses, and treatment plans as dictated by the provider.
- Support provider efficiency by entering orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) exactly as instructed and ensuring documentation is complete and accurate.
- Create and document telephone encounters and other patient communications under the direction of the provider.
- Ensure medical documentation accurately reflects the provider’s clinical findings and selected evaluation and management (E&M) level.
- Collaborate closely with physicians and advanced practice providers, escalating clinical questions or documentation concerns promptly for clarification.
- Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential electronic medical records while supporting efficient clinic workflow.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One year of experience in a clinical or healthcare setting with proficiency in medical terminology.
- Strong typing, documentation, and computer skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Current BLS certification required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
- Completion of Anatomy & Physiology coursework.
- Medical Scribe certification.
- Medical Coding certification.
- Prior urgent care experience.
