Responsibilities
- Spot mistakes or inconsistencies in medical documentation and correct information to reduce errors.
- Ensure physician signs off on addenda and completes patient charts.
- Write reports and correspondence, demonstrating proficiency in typing, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and oral communication.
- Listen to complex medical information and summarize it clearly and concisely.
- Translate medical abbreviations into their expanded forms and maintain confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain and coordinate multiple forms and paper documentation related to patient care, ensuring organizational ability.
- Document patient medical history, physical exams, procedures, treatments, and patient education during medical visits.
- Record physician-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions, and instructions for patient or family self-care and follow-up.
- Ensure physician authenticates all documentation before leaving the patient care area.
- Prepare referral letters as directed by the physician and ensure they are mailed or faxed daily with pertinent reports or tests attached.
- Research contact information for referring physicians and coordinate referrals.
- Prepare procedure reports and transcribe results of labs, x-rays, or other tests, alerting the physician when the chart is incomplete.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Transcription skills preferred, or two-year degree in healthcare/HIM or more experience in a medical office. [Required]
- 2+ years of experience in a medical office. [Required]
- Experience with transcription software and medical coding training or certification. [Preferred]

- Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) [Preferred]
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) [Preferred]
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) [Preferred]
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) [Preferred]
- Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) [Preferred]
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Preferred]

Pay
Pay Range: $15.87 - $25.38 per hour
