Medical Screener - Reception Technician (Customer Service)
About the role
Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting a series of registration procedures to verify donor suitability for the plasma pheresis process. Reports to the Assistant Center Manager.
Responsibilities
- Assists qualified donors in completing the screening process, including assessing health history, answering medical questions, and referring donors to medical staff.
- Performs health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature.
- May educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma, including the screening process, health screening tests, appointment system, donation fees, center policies, and proper nutrition.
- Ensures all donor questions are answered promptly, accurately, and professionally.
- Maintains donor data in the electronic donor information management system according to SOPs.
- Understands and follows policies and procedures associated with hyperimmune programs, if applicable.
- Maintains a clean and efficient work environment, ensuring sufficient operating supplies and forms are available.
- Follows HSE and OSHA policies and procedures, promoting safety in all actions.
- Maintains confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
- May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
- May be required to wear personal protective equipment and work overtime as needed.
Requirements
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience: Minimum of three (3) months experience in a clerical or customer service related position, preferably in a medical or health provider environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills: Basic math calculations, ability to see and speak with customers, reach, bend, kneel, and have high-level manual dexterity, occasional lifting up to 25 pounds, fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, exposure to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens.
Qualifications
Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions, perform basic math calculations, and maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
Skills
Bilingual skills may be required, at the discretion of the organization, to meet the needs of the business.
