About the role

The Medical Science Liaison/Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) functions as a highly trained, field-based scientific expert in oncology. This role engages healthcare professionals and leaders in clinical, scientific, value-based care, and research-based peer-to-peer scientific exchange around our client’s pipeline of products. The MSL will interact with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), healthcare practitioners (HCPs), professional societies, and organizations, focusing on solid tumors, beginning with urologists, radiation, and medical oncologists treating locally advanced prostate cancer.

Responsibilities

  • Function as the primary medical point of contact in a geographic area.
  • Maintain clinical and scientific expertise in oncology, with a specific focus on standards of care related to the treatment of locally advanced prostate cancer and other solid tumors.
  • Engage in well-informed, compliant, and accurate scientific peer exchange regarding the client’s pipeline.
  • Develop and track key opinion leader (KOL) engagement plans, identifying, developing, and maintaining long-term collaborative relationships with KOLs within the assigned region.
  • Engage in medical and scientific exchange with the medical/scientific community, including advisory boards.
  • Manage and develop the assigned territory, handling clinical program requests and unsolicited requests for information.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to support sites and investigators participating in company-sponsored clinical trials.
  • Conduct pre-launch KOL profiling efforts to enhance product, disease, and scientific knowledge.
  • Facilitate top account/institution profiling to understand patient care pathways, treatment protocols, and novel therapies.
  • Work collaboratively and compliantly with commercial colleagues to represent product strategic imperatives in account engagement.
  • Respond to and document unsolicited requests for information on clinical initiatives.
  • Serve as a resource for investigator-sponsored trial (IIST) proposals.
  • Provide internal teams with feedback and insights from KOL interactions.
  • Represent the client at medical meetings through Medical Affairs’ Scientific Booth coverage and related activities.
  • Attend congresses and develop internal reports of covered events.
  • Adhere to corporate SOPs and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory guidelines governing scientific interactions.
  • Demonstrate excellence in territory management while contributing to the success of colleagues and the MSL team.
  • Contribute to organizational goals beyond the geographic territory.
  • Provide medical support, clinical input, and training for internal teams as requested.

Qualifications

  • An advanced degree (e.g., PharmD, PhD, MD, MSN, or NP/PA) is required.
  • MSL: Minimum of 2 years of previous MSL experience, with at least 1 year in oncology (and/or immunology) and working knowledge of viral immunotherapy and gene therapy.
  • Sr. MSL: Minimum of 5 years of pharma experience and 3 years in rare disease, oncology (and/or immunology).
  • Genitourinary oncology experience is strongly preferred.
  • Prior product launch experience required.
  • Exhibits high scientific, business, and clinical acumen with excellent communication and networking skills.
  • Ability to interpret and present scientific data to engage KOLs.
  • Working knowledge of standards of care for prostate cancer.
  • Experience sharing scientific content with payer systems is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of NCCN Guidelines, NCI Cooperative Groups, and Oncology Research Consortiums.
  • Ability to present complex scientific, value, and evidence data to payors and/or formulary committees.
  • Working knowledge of institutions and clinics in selected geographies is expected.

Pay

This role is eligible for hire in select U.S. locations based on business and operational considerations. Compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, and geographic location to account for comparative cost of living. If this job posting includes a base salary range, it represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S.
