About the role

The Medical Science Liaison/Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a field-based scientific expert in oncology, engaging healthcare professionals and leaders in clinical, scientific, value-based care, and research-based peer-to-peer exchanges around our client’s pipeline of products. This role interacts with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), healthcare practitioners, professional societies, and institutions involved in treating solid tumors, with a focus on locally advanced prostate cancer.

Responsibilities

  • Function as the primary medical point of contact in a designated geographic area.
  • Maintain clinical and scientific expertise in oncology, with a focus on standards of care for locally advanced prostate cancer and other solid tumors.
  • Engage in compliant, well-informed, and accurate scientific peer exchange regarding the client’s pipeline.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of clinical protocols, trial outcomes, and related procedures.
  • Identify, develop, and track KOL engagement plans, fostering long-term collaborative relationships within the assigned region.
  • Participate in medical and scientific exchanges with the medical/scientific community, including advisory boards.
  • Manage and develop the assigned territory, handling clinical program requests and unsolicited information requests.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to support clinical trial sites and investigators as needed.
  • Conduct pre-launch KOL profiling to enhance product, disease, and scientific knowledge.
  • Facilitate top account/institution profiling to understand patient care pathways, treatment protocols, and novel therapies.
  • Work collaboratively and compliantly with commercial colleagues to align product strategic imperatives across functions.
  • Respond to and document unsolicited requests for clinical initiative information.
  • Serve as a resource for investigator-sponsored trial (IIST) proposals when applicable.
  • Provide internal teams with feedback and insights from KOL interactions.
  • Represent the client at medical meetings, including Medical Affairs’ Scientific Booth coverage and related activities.
  • Attend congresses and develop internal reports on key findings.
  • Adhere to corporate SOPs and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory guidelines governing scientific interactions.
  • Maintain a high standard of excellence in territory management while contributing to team success.
  • Contribute to organizational goals beyond geographic territory borders.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of clinical data to communicate the scientific, clinical, economic, and value aspects of the client’s products.
  • Provide medical support, clinical input, and training for internal teams as requested.

Qualifications

  • An advanced degree (e.g., PharmD, PhD, MD, MSN, or NP/PA) is required.
  • For MSL: Minimum of 2 years of MSL experience, with at least 1 year in oncology (and/or immunology), including knowledge of viral immunotherapy and gene therapy.
  • For Sr. MSL: Minimum of 5 years of pharma experience and 3 years in rare disease, oncology (and/or immunology).
  • Genitourinary oncology experience is strongly preferred.
  • Prior product launch experience is required.
  • Exhibits high scientific, business, and clinical acumen with excellent communication and networking skills.
  • Ability to interpret and present scientific data to engage KOLs.
  • Working knowledge of standards of care for prostate cancer.
  • Experience sharing scientific content with payer systems is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with NCCN Guidelines, NCI Cooperative Groups, and Oncology Research Consortiums.
  • Ability to present complex scientific, value, and evidence data to payers and/or formulary committees.
  • Working knowledge of institutions and clinics in selected geographies.

Pay

If this job posting includes a base salary range, it represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position within the U.S. Compensation will vary based on experience, qualifications, and location to account for comparative cost of living.
