About the role

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) role focuses on engaging with healthcare system leaders such as Regional Thought Leaders (RTLs), National Thought Leaders, and Healthcare, Professional (HCPs) to translate scientific insights into patient care. This role involves capturing medical insights, acting as a clinical & scientific advisor, and addressing unsolicited questions from HCPs.

Responsibilities

  • Develops trusted relationships with appropriate academic and community Thought Leaders (TLs) in neurology through high-quality peer-to-peer scientific dialogue.
  • Engages in scientific dialogue with TLs to gain insights on the clinical landscape and develop a medical plan that is both product/disease area focused and translates into effective launch and LCM activities.
  • Engages with medical societies, PAGs (Patient Advocacy Groups), and guideline committee members as appropriate.
  • Supports the clinical development team by providing recommendations and insights on study feasibilities within the therapeutic area.
  • Supports the intervention and non-interventional research (ISR) studies by facilitating patient recruitment and discussions around the safe and effective use of BMS investigational products.
  • Ensures that BMS Pharmacovigilance procedural documents are understood and applied by investigators of local studies, and alerts appropriate BMS personnel to any identified Adverse Events.
  • Supports CRO-sponsored studies as agreed with home office medical and GDO.
  • Works with payers in the pre- and peri-launch phases to address health economic outcomes (HEOR) and account executives.
  • Serves as a “Medical on Call” resource, answering unsolicited off-label and technically complex questions in real time.

Requirements

  • MD, PharmD, PhD, APP, PA, NP with experience in a specific Disease Area or with a broad medical background or relevant pharmaceutical experience.
  • Field medical expertise is preferred.
  • Deep understanding of TL environment and needs.
  • Strong Neurology Experience Required.
  • Scientific or clinical disease area knowledge, patient treatment trends, clinical landscape.
  • Pharmaceutical industry including compliance and regulatory guidelines.
  • Understanding of scientific publications, clinical trial design and methodology, including Good Clinical Practices and ethical, governmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of treatment paradigms, competitive landscape, and can frame information in a convincing and compliant way that resonates with physicians.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to articulate scientific and clinical data in an easy-to-understand manner to help HCPs best serve their patients.

Pay

The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.

Schedule

This position is field based and the MSL will be required to live within the territory they manage or within 50 miles of the territory borders. As this position requires the operation of a Company-provided vehicle, offers of employment are contingent upon the candidate meeting the requirements of “Qualified Driver,” as determined by the Company in its sole discretion, including but not limited to the following: 1) at least 21 years of age; 2) a driver’s license in good standing issued by your state of residence; and, 3) a driving risk level deemed acceptable by the Company. The MSL will spend majority of their time in the field with their external customers and additional requirements based on territory assignment and team needs, as needed.
