About the Role

The Medical Science Liaison I/II (MSL) - US serves as a member of a medical/scientific team, acting as a company spokesperson on clinical programs, clinical trials, and marketing functions requiring clinical/medical translation. This role involves interfacing with the commercial team and key clients, identifying and developing relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and highly accomplished physicians in breast cancer treatment. The MSL provides detailed knowledge of Agendia’s products and services, distributes scientific information, and assists in research initiatives and product strategies.

The MSL I/II facilitates medical communications, clinical trial functions, and medical marketing programs, representing the company at sales meetings, conferences, and patient advocacy functions. The role includes analyzing and preparing clinical trial data for abstracts, presentations, and peer-reviewed manuscripts. The MSL II will also work closely with the VP of Clinical Affairs on medical aspects of reimbursement and technology assessments.

Position within the Organization

  • Reports to VP, Medical Affairs
  • Cooperates with Medical Affairs, Sales, Lab Operations, Customer Care, Marketing, Clinical Affairs, R&D, and QA/RA
  • Participates in department meetings, project meetings (internal and external stakeholders), working groups, and portfolio meetings

Responsibilities

  • Identify, target, educate, and manage accounts in the assigned territory, including hospitals, pathology groups, oncologists, and surgeons on Agendia’s products.
  • Interface with current and new collaborations within the oncology field.
  • Work with managed care to develop and refine clinical/medical documentation supporting reimbursement.
  • Provide support to management involved in regulatory affairs for document and material preparation.
  • Support Agendia’s Sales and Marketing (25%), Clinical Trial strategy and data development (25%), regulatory and reimbursement activities (25%), and client services (25%).
  • Contribute medical and clinical input to new product development.
  • Support the VP of Medical Affairs in medical marketing plans and product development in cooperation with Sales and Marketing.
  • Develop and present medical, clinical, and scientific materials to stakeholders, collaborating with sales and marketing organizations.
  • Present educational programs about Agendia’s diagnostic products, including scientific publications, account in-services, WebEx sessions, and scientific presentations.
  • Provide statistical and analytic support for clinical trials, data collection, safety, and medical information programs.
  • Assist in designing and implementing clinical trials and interpreting results.
  • Participate in assessing clinical data and collaborate with Marketing and Regulatory to develop product-specific communication strategies.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key thought leaders and customers.
  • Assist physicians and patients with data interpretation and present data to diverse audiences, including physicians, hospital administrators, and payers.
  • Stay abreast of trends and new information in the scientific field and profession.
  • Serve as a technical/scientific subject matter resource to Agendia commercial personnel.

Key Contacts

  • Internal: Works closely with Medical Affairs, Sales, Clinical Affairs, R&D, QA/RA, Lab Operations, and interacts with all departments company-wide.
  • External: Works with physicians, KOLs, patients, managed care personnel, business associates, vendors, and regulatory agencies.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent) with a minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in Oncology (solid tumor experience preferred).
  • OR License (RN, NP, CNP, PA, or equivalent) with a minimum of a Master’s Degree and 3 years’ experience in Oncology (breast cancer experience preferred).
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience as an MSL or comparable industry/clinical role (customer-facing).
  • Experience in presenting and/or interpreting scientific or clinical research publications.
  • Experience establishing collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Regulatory, R&D) and external customers.

Skills

  • Knowledge of geography and key opinion leaders preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements for field-based personnel.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal colleagues in sales, marketing, and managed care.
  • Ability to summarize complex scientific information and present it clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Willingness to travel at least 75% of workdays.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently while adhering to Medical Affairs strategic direction.
  • Ability to organize and plan multiple changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems, medical landscape, regulatory and payer environments, public health, and industry trends.
  • Proficiency in digital tools.

Working Environment
