About the role

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) plays a crucial role in the Otsuka America Pharmaceutical Inc. ecosystem-based customer engagement model. Their primary objective is to better deliver on patient, caregiver, and healthcare provider needs in an evolving healthcare environment. This involves bridging care gaps through a unified focus among account management, medical, patient access, marketing, and market access teams.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of the ecosystem strategic business plan and identify key stakeholders.
  • Provide clinical, scientific, and health economic information related to CNS disease states and the appropriate utilization of approved Otsuka products.
  • Engage with Key Influencers (KIs), Local Practice Leaders (LPLs), healthcare providers, and patient groups to align with Otsuka’s patient-centric strategy.
  • Collaborate with ecosystem partners to customize region business strategies and fulfill medical and educational requirements.
  • Engage in broad clinical and scientific discussions to improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key scientific and medical customers and organizations to stay updated on healthcare trends and systems.
  • Deliver on business objectives that extend beyond the territory and impact the Medical Affairs organization.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the ecosystem to ensure alignment with Otsuka’s patient-centric strategy.
  • Disseminate disease state and healthcare landscape information to customers as defined by priorities.
  • Support Otsuka’s clinical trials program, including registration, post-marketing, and Investigator-Sponsored Trials (ISTs).
  • Participate in peer functional and therapeutic development, including mentoring new hires.
  • Support other areas of the organization, including Safety & Pharmacovigilance, Sales Training, and medical education.

Requirements

MD/DO, PharmD, or PhD in life sciences required. Minimum 2 years relevant experience in pharmaceutical industry Medical Affairs or comparable clinical or research experience required. Previous training or experience in CNS disease is preferred. Strong business acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead others are essential.

Qualifications

Pay

$150,034.00 - $224,250.00, plus incentive opportunity.

Typically, actual pay will be positioned within the established range, rather than at its minimum or maximum.
