Medical Science Liaison, CNS – Northeast
About the role
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) plays a crucial role in the Otsuka America Pharmaceutical Inc. ecosystem-based customer engagement model. This model focuses on delivering better patient, caregiver, and healthcare provider experiences by coordinating care across various healthcare systems.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of the ecosystem strategic business plan and identify key stakeholders.
- Provide clinical, scientific, and health economic information related to CNS disease states and the appropriate utilization of approved Otsuka products.
- Engage with Key Influencers (KIs), Local Practice Leaders (LPLs), healthcare providers, and patient groups to improve patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with ecosystem partners to customize region business strategies and meet local ecosystem needs.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the ecosystem to align with Otsuka’s patient-centric strategy.
- Deliver evidence-based information demonstrating the value of Otsuka and its products, working with providers and stakeholders to improve patient care.
- Build and cultivate relationships with key scientific and medical customers and organizations to understand evolving healthcare trends.
- Coordinate field activities and clinical and scientific discussions impacting patient care.
- Train promotional and disease state speakers and assist with Otsuka’s clinical trials program.
- Collect and submit medical insights to drive decision-making and prioritize evidence generation efforts.
- Mentor peers and participate in various organizational functions including Safety & Pharmacovigilance, Sales Training, and Field Medical Center of Excellence.
Requirements
MD/DO, PharmD, or PhD in life sciences required. Minimum 2 years relevant experience in pharmaceutical industry Medical Affairs. Previous training or experience in CNS disease is preferred. Strong business acumen, solution identification, excellent communication, and collaboration skills are essential.

Skills
Strong business acumen, solution identification, excellent communication, and collaboration skills are essential. Knowledge of the interconnectivity of health systems, overall delivery of patient care, and experience working with healthcare professionals and other decision makers is required.

Pay
$150,034.00 - $224,250.00, plus incentive opportunity
Schedule
Up to 70% business travel by air or car, depending on the size of the territory.
