About the role

As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) in Obesity for Central/Southeast Florida (Pompano Beach), you will act as the primary scientific and clinical resource for Opinion Leaders (OLs), Population Health Decision Makers (PHDMs), and other healthcare providers. This field-based role supports Amgen’s Medical function and product strategy, providing accurate scientific information to improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Majority of time spent on peer-to-peer activities with Obesity and related conditions Opinion Leaders, community healthcare providers, and PHDMs to discuss and advance the scientific platform aligned with Amgen’s corporate goals.
  • Engage with clinical investigators and sites in support of the obesity pipeline.
  • Communicate scientific-based data, clinical value, outcomes, and economic data to PHDMs within assigned IDNs and institutions.
  • Connect external and internal stakeholders to amplify Amgen’s reach and access for patients.
  • Conduct in-depth scientific exchange to provide focused and balanced clinical and scientific information consistent with MSL compliance standards.
  • Support Amgen-sponsored research and may serve as a study lead.
  • Liaise with potential investigators in non-sponsored clinical research.
  • Provide and/or present field observations and insights to internal stakeholders to inform Amgen strategies.
  • Lead and support congress activities as aligned with strategy.
  • Support speaker training and ensure speakers are updated on new data.
  • Lead and/or participate on project teams that support MSL strategies and tactics as delegated by MSL leadership.
  • Compliantly partner across all Amgen field roles to create a coordinated One Amgen experience.
  • Instill passion and move HCPs to take action in improving patient care related to closing care gaps.
  • Execute administrative responsibilities and training (e.g., Veeva CRM, expense reports, compliance modules) in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and improve clinical/scientific acumen and expertise with current data and healthcare trends.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders and effectively communicate scientific data.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree, or
  • Master’s degree and 3 years of Medical Affairs experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Medical Affairs experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., or D.O. (other doctoral degrees considered).
  • 1+ years of Medical Affairs experience.
  • 4+ years in a medically related field, including 1 year focused on clinical practice, clinical research, or medical research (post-doctoral training such as residencies and/or fellowships qualifies).
  • 2+ years in a Medical Science Liaison role in a biotech or pharmaceutical company.
  • Current experience in Scientific Affairs or Medical Affairs at a biotech or pharmaceutical company.
  • Cardiometabolic and/or Obesity expertise.
  • Experience with designated territory.

Pay

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
