Visa Information

TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.

Responsibilities

Employees in this classification provide support in an assigned research laboratory performing laboratory experiments and procedures. Assists with the development of new procedures and techniques to be utilized within the laboratory. Performs other functional duties such as maintenance of the laboratory and laboratory equipment and supplies. Work is performed under usual laboratory conditions. Some hazards may be present due to use of radioactive, carcinogenic, or other potentially harmful substances. Assists in training and direction of subordinate personnel.

• Curate data and conduct experiments and data searches
• Bacterial culturing, Gram staining, biochemical and ATP assays, antibiotic susceptibility testing, immunodiffusion, and blood cell analysis

Requirements

High School Diploma; college work in one of the sciences or education/experience to equal 2 years.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in molecular and genetic biology techniques, including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR/RT-PCR, gel electrophoresis, cloning, restriction digestion, ligation, and gene expression analysis.
• Training in immunology and microbiology methods, including bacterial culturing, Gram staining, biochemical and ATP assays, antibiotic susceptibility testing, immunodiffusion, and blood cell analysis.
• Background in animal cell and tissue culture, including work with cell lines, primary cultures, transfections, cytotoxicity assays, micropropagation, and callus induction.

Pay Basis: Hourly

Pay Grade Minimum: $15.00

Pay Grade Maximum: $19.88
