Medical Representative (Part-time Seasonal)
About the Role
The Medical Representative is a seasonal position with a projected end date of January 2, 2027. Primary functions include providing emergency medical response to guests or employees with injuries/illnesses, interacting with guests and employees in a pleasant and informative manner, aiding the public in emergency and nonemergency situations, protecting Zoo property, and enforcing ZooTampa’s safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
- Interact pleasantly and helpfully with employees, guests, vendors, and visitors, maintaining high customer service standards.
- Provide emergency medical response as a first responder, including first aid, CPR, and AED, until additional medical personnel arrive.
- Assist in investigations of accidents/incidents by providing detailed information.
- Provide guest control, including managing challenging situations.
- Respond to alarms, lost child situations, and other emergencies as needed.
- Maintain logs and write reports of daily injuries/illnesses of guests and staff.
- Patrol grounds periodically as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency required; some college coursework preferred.
- EMT certification or higher medical certification required.
- Security experience preferred but not required.
- Valid Florida driver’s license required.
- Guest services or guest relations experience required.
- Must obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
- Personable and enjoys interacting with people, even in stressful situations.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Self-directing with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexible and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to deescalate situations calmly and professionally.
Other Requirements
- Adhere to AZA standards, relevant laws, safety standards, and animal welfare guidelines.
- Work in extreme weather conditions typical to west central Florida.
- Use radios, telephones, and computers for communication.
- Work varied and long shifts, including holidays, weekends, and special events.
- Perform physical tasks such as sitting, bending, standing, reaching, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Drive a golf cart.
