Medical Records Release Clerk

About the role

The Medical Records Release Clerk processes, tracks, and fulfills all requests for client health information across Cadence Care Network’s behavioral health and foster care programs. This role ensures compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, state confidentiality laws, and agency policies.

Responsibilities

• Process and track all client health information requests
• Ensure all releases of information comply with relevant regulations
• Collaborate with clinical teams, case managers, foster care staff, and external partners to handle sensitive records accurately and securely
• Support multiple locations and manage a fast-paced environment
• Work with court orders, subpoenas, and legal documentation processes
• Manage medical records, health information, and healthcare/social services administration
• Show understanding of HIPAA and willingness to learn additional laws
• Use proficiency with EHR systems and document management tools

Requirements

• Associate's degree, bachelor's degree preferred
• Experience in behavioral health, child welfare, or foster care settings
• Experience in multi-location or fast-paced administrative environments
• Familiarity with court orders, subpoenas, and legal documentation processes
• Experience in medical records, health information management, or healthcare/social services administration
• Understanding of HIPAA; willingness to learn 42 CFR Part 2 and foster care confidentiality laws
• Proficiency with EHR systems and document management tools
