The Medical Records & Billing Administrator supports healthcare operations within a mission-driven organization focused on improving access to quality care. Key responsibilities include ensuring accurate medical record processing, billing operations, and compliance with healthcare requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily healthcare administration processes by ensuring accurate documentation, timely responses, and efficient billing workflows.
  • Manage medical records requests accurately and within required turnaround timelines.
  • Manage incoming payer communications, including sorting, routing, and responding to time-sensitive requests.
  • Process refunds, payer reconsiderations, and manual claim-related activities.
  • Audit preparation by retrieving documentation and maintaining organized records.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve medical records and billing workflows.
  • Identify recurring issues, inefficiencies, and opportunities to optimize operational processes.
  • Provide additional support across billing functions as business needs evolve.

Requirements

  • Healthcare administrative experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle confidential information with accuracy and professionalism.
  • Experience with medical records, billing processes, or payer workflows is preferred.
  • Familiarity with payer processes, medical billing terminology, and claims workflows, including 837 claims.
  • Understanding of HIPAA compliance standards and patient information confidentiality requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage high-volume, deadline-driven tasks independently.
  • Comfortable working remotely with minimal day-to-day supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify problems, suggest improvements, and adapt to changing priorities.
