About the role

The Medical Receptionist is the first in-person point of contact for a patient on behalf of the medical practice. They are responsible for all aspects of front office duties assigned by a clinic. This is an intermediate-level position requiring excellent customer service skills, discretion, good judgment, a pleasant and professional manner, and an articulate phone voice. Internal and external contacts include patients, families, co-workers, physicians, and the general public.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting patients and families
  • Answering phones and directing calls
  • Assisting patients and families
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Patient registration
  • Charge entry
  • Payment posting
  • Batch balancing
  • Cash reconciliation and balancing
  • Operating basic office equipment

Requirements

  • Post-high school office procedures preferred
  • Minimum one (1) year of clerical and/or receptionist experience; or six (6) months in a medical setting
  • Customer service experience
  • Degree or relevant certificate (e.g., Medical Office Assistant, Medical Assistant, Health Unit Coordinator) may be substituted for experience

Pay and Benefits

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental, and retirement benefits, and paid time off. The pay scale is $21.68 – $31.20 USD per hour. Pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
