Functions as a member of the Practice team working in both Front and Back Office Clerical and Clinical services at Holy Name, New Jersey's only independent Catholic health system. Holy Name comprises a 361-bed acute care hospital, a renowned cancer center, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a residential hospice, a prestigious nursing school, and an extensive physician network. Responsibilities

  • Answers phone, schedules patient appointments in strict adherence to physician schedule, and keeps abreast of physician’s overall routine schedule to contact physician with messages when he/she is not in the office
  • Assures that all messages are communicated accurately
  • Greets patients in a friendly and professional manner
  • Obtains completed registration forms for each new patient
  • Updates demographic profile at each patient visit
  • Collects payment for services rendered at the time of appointment and for any past due balances
  • Processes requests for patient medical records and/or patient information during office sessions (e.g., patient records, diagnostic test results, other healthcare facilities)
  • Reschedules patient appointments as needed (e.g., physician unavailable, delay in appointment schedule, cancellation of physician session)
  • Activates and deactivates phone service at the beginning and end of clinic session
  • Reviews the physician on-call schedule with the phone service at the end of clinical hours (Monday - Friday and weekend hours)
  • Delivers messages to staff throughout the day
  • Reviews and/or updates patient insurance information
  • For managed care patients, follows established protocols for necessary authorizations from the patient for scheduled office visits
  • Depending on the practice, may obtain pre-authorization for various procedures ordered by the physician for individual patients and schedules the patient for the service
  • Distributes correspondence and patient information from patient medical records in accordance with established policies
  • Photocopies and processes forms
  • Opens, date stamps, and distributes mail; pulls medical record for all diagnostic test results and consults received, attaches mail to the chart for physician review
  • Performs follow-up required by physician when chart is returned
  • May substitute for other office personnel as trained
  • Adheres to Compliance Plan
  • Performs any other assigned duties by physician or manager

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of experience
  • Medical Terminology and strong customer service skills (high proficiency)

Pay

Final base compensation will be determined based on factors such as employment status (Full/Part-Time or Per Diem), skills, education, and experience. Pay range: $16.00/hour - $20.00/hour.
