Position Summary
The Salvation Army Rochester Corps provides holistic, person-centered services including worship services, pastoral care, case management, and access to various community resources. The Medical Receptionist supports the Student Community Clinic by greeting and registering patients, managing appointments, responding to inquiries, and supporting student providers.
Essential Functions
- Patient Reception and Intake: Greet patients, facilitate check-in and registration, review insurance, and handle phone calls and inquiries.
- Administrative Support: Perform appointment scheduling, confirmations, and reminders.
- Clinical Support: Answer questions, assist with clinical and lab-related tasks, and provide support to student providers.
- Medication Assistance: Distribute medications according to clinic protocols and supervision requirements.
- Clinic Room Upkeep: Clean, sanitize, and restock exam rooms and clinic areas at the end of clinic sessions.
Wage and Hours
$18 - $19 per hour, 16 hours per week

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in a medical office, clinic, or customer service setting preferred.
Background Checks
Must successfully pass background checks.
Competencies
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including conversational Spanish.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, EHR systems, databases, and general PC use.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and medication handling procedures.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced clinic environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling records, appointments, and clinic documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and integrity.
Working Conditions
- Regular exposure to a clinical environment, including medications and cleaning/sanitation supplies.
- Work involves a combination of administrative and active duties, including prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
