About the role
The Medical Receptionist supports the day-to-day customer service, scheduling, and clerical functions of two clinics in SHAC: Health Services and Counseling Services.
Responsibilities
- Provide information about a wide range of medical and counseling services.
- Check-in patients, navigate and complete clinic forms, verify and enter health insurance information, and schedule follow-up visits.
- Use a scheduling prioritization matrix to ask follow-up questions involving personal or sensitive information to schedule appointments appropriately.
- Act as a liaison between students and SHAC providers to ensure students receive the care they need.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for the diverse student body at PSU, as well as faculty/staff and the larger PSU community.
- Conduct data entry including entering pronouns and preferred names for students, and assist with PSU immunization requirements for measles and covid-19.
Requirements
- At least 6 months of experience by date of hire in a high volume customer service position, preferably in a medical or mental health customer service role.
- Ability to remain calm and focused while working under pressure.
- Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience using discretion while working with sensitive information.
- Experience working with health insurance plans and electronic entry of insurance policy information.
- Experience working in a college health environment.
- Experience working with Banner and Point and Click electronic health record systems.
