About the Role
As the face of our clinic and the first step in our patient-first approach, you'll serve as a detail-oriented Medical Receptionist specializing in insurance verification and revenue protection. Your precision with insurance verification directly impacts both patient experience and our clinic's financial health. We need someone exceptional at resolving insurance and billing challenges while maintaining high patient satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Master Insurance Verification: Meticulously verify coverage BEFORE services are provided, prevent claim denials, and maximize revenue capture.
- Excel at Financial Counseling: Confidently explain costs, billing processes, and insurance complexities to patients in an understandable way.
- Solve Billing Problems: Proactively identify and resolve insurance discrepancies and billing issues before they impact revenue.
- Drive Patient Satisfaction: Deliver exceptional service even during difficult financial conversations, keeping patients happy while handling payment matters.
- Be the Face of AFC: Greet patients with warmth and professionalism that makes AFC stand out in healthcare.
- Own the Front Desk Flow: Process payments, schedule appointments, and manage patient check-ins efficiently.
- Protect Patient Information: Maintain organized records while strictly following HIPAA regulations.
Requirements
- Experience with insurance verification and medical billing (non-negotiable).
- Ability to explain complex insurance concepts to frustrated patients with empathy and clarity.
- Obsessively detail-oriented—accuracy in insurance details is critical.
- Experience as a Medical Receptionist, Administrative Assistant, or in a Customer Service role in a medical office setting.
- Tech-savvy with medical billing software and EMR systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to find billing solutions that work for both patients and the clinic.
- Positive attitude, even during challenging financial conversations.
- High school diploma required; X-Ray Tech, Medical Assistant, or related certification is a plus.
- Active BLS certification required or must be obtained within the defined onboarding period.

Pay
The anticipated pay range for this position is $18.00 to $22.00 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, internal equity, and market conditions.
Schedule
Full-time with flexible shifts (some evenings/weekends). Guaranteed at least 36 hours per week.
