Medical Radiographer-Radiology Diagnostic

At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Medical Radiographer III is a valuable member of our team, providing administrative and executive support while interfacing with all levels of management throughout the hospital. This role involves producing diagnostic exams, positioning and transferring patients, providing immobilization devices, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis, and operating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
• Assists physicians in administering opaque media.
• Delegates areas of authority in the performance of routine or special procedures.
• May be responsible for specific areas of instruction in the school of technology and ancillary personnel.
• In the absence of the supervisor or senior technologist, may be designated as acting supervisor.
• Assists in performing first aid, as necessary, practices sterile techniques, and prevents cross-contamination.
• Conducts periodic quality control tests and participates or conducts research in required specialty.
• Teaches radiology students or specialty, as well as appropriate hospital personnel established procedures and operation of equipment, in accordance with department guidelines and teaching objectives.

Requirements

• Graduate of a Diagnostic Radiology Program.
• NYS DOH License in Radiology Technology and ARRT Certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hospital experience.
• IV Contrast Injection Certification.

Pre-Employment Requirements

• Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services.

• Successfully complete a 4-panel drug screen.
• Meet regulatory requirements for pre-employment screenings.
• Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair. The role may be designated as "essential," requiring employees to remain at their work location or report to work during institutional emergencies to protect, recover, and continue operations.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $85,989 - $109,055 base. Additional compensation may include:

• $4,000 location pay for full-time positions (UUP, CSEA & PEF).
• $15,000 night shift differential.
• $10,000 evening shift differential.
• $575 inconvenience pay/supplemental shift differential.

Schedule

Full-time. This position may be subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary.
